GMC Trucks Work Harder
A GMC truck is bought to do something specific, and what that something is should determine the entire maintenance plan.
Towing raises transmission temperature, loads the cooling system, works the brakes harder and puts sustained stress on the rear suspension and driveline. Payload does something similar. Extended idling adds engine hours without adding miles, which factory intervals based on the odometer do not account for. Larger tires change effective gearing and add unsprung weight the brakes have to manage.
So we ask about duty cycle before recommending intervals. The work covers scheduled maintenance, brakes, suspension, alignment, cooling, charging, transmissions, drivetrain, engine performance and diesel systems including fuel delivery, emissions and regeneration behavior.
Photographed inspections document what we find, which is useful when the GMC is a business asset. Loaner vehicles are available for the longer jobs, and qualifying repairs carry a nationwide warranty that travels with the truck.

GMC Idling Adds Wear
Idle time is the GMC wear nobody records, and on a GMC truck it can be substantial.
A vehicle that spends hours running at a job site, waiting with the climate control on, or warming up through winter mornings accumulates engine hours that never appear on the odometer. Oil sees heat cycles, the engine spends time at its least efficient operating point, and the maintenance interval based on mileage falls badly out of step with actual use.
On a diesel it goes further. Extended idling prevents exhaust temperatures reaching the level needed for clean regeneration, which is how a truck ends up with longer and more frequent regen cycles, and eventually a warning light for something that started as a duty cycle problem.
Some GMC platforms record engine hours, and where that is available we will use it. Where it is not, tell us roughly how much of the truck's life is spent idling and we will adjust the interval accordingly.
It is a small conversation that changes the schedule meaningfully on a working truck.
