A Lincoln is bought for comfort and quiet, and both depend on components that fail gradually enough to go unnoticed until the car no longer feels like it did.
Air suspension, on the models equipped with it, is usually first. A ride height that settles overnight, a compressor running longer than it used to, or a corner that sits slightly low all point somewhere specific and all get worse if left. Suspension bushings, mounts and dampers change ride quality slowly enough that owners adapt without registering the difference.

Lincoln Ride Quality Fades
Ride quality on a Lincoln declines slowly enough that most owners never identify the moment it changed.
Air suspension is the usual cause on the models that use it. A vehicle that settles overnight, a compressor running longer than it used to, or one corner sitting slightly low are all early signals, and they get worse rather than stabilizing. Left long enough, a leaking strut works the compressor to failure and turns one repair into two.
On conventional Lincoln suspension the culprits are bushings, mounts and dampers. None fail outright. They soften, and the car becomes floatier over crests, less settled at highway speed and noisier over broken pavement. Owners adapt without registering it.
Lincoln adaptive damping, where fitted, adds an electronic dimension, since a sensor or module fault produces the same feel as a mechanical one and requires diagnostic access to tell apart.
