On a modern Volkswagen, the mechanical repair is often only half of the job.
Replace a battery, a module, a sensor or certain mechanical components and the vehicle needs coding, adaptation or a relearn procedure before it recognizes what happened. Skip that and the part sits there, correctly installed and doing nothing, while the fault stays exactly where it was. A new battery without registration gets charged on the wrong profile and dies early. A replaced module without coding never comes online.
This is where a lot of Volkswagen repairs go wrong at shops without the right equipment, and it is why owners sometimes pay twice for the same job.
The same applies to service resets, throttle adaptations, steering angle calibration after suspension work and transmission adaptation after a fluid service.
